An internationally renowned surgeon, Dr. Antonacci has extensive surgical experience in adults and children, with particular specialization in scoliosis surgery, as well as extensive experience in complex reconstructive neck and spine surgery. He is considered one of the Top Spine Surgeons in NJ and NY, and as the pioneer of ASC, the preeminent surgeon for ASC internationally. From 2001 to 2015 Dr. Antonacci operated mostly in Manhattan at Lenox Hill Hospital and Mount Sinai University Hospital. Since approximately 2015/16, Dr. Antonacci has performed his ASC by Drs. ABC surgeries at Saint Peters University Hospital in NJ (approx. 20 minutes from Newark Int’l Airport), where both his adult and pediatric patients for the most part are allowed to stay in private ICU rooms their entire stay. A graduate of Georgetown University, and Georgetown University School of Medicine, Dr. Antonacci is the youngest of six siblings, five of whom are medical doctors, and one who has a doctorate in education. Dr. Antonacci has three college level children of his own.
Dr. Antonacci is honored to be among the few individuals worldwide to have twice received the prestigious Russell A. Hibbs Award for Research from the Scoliosis Research Society.

Dr. Antonacci has spent years pioneering the latest techniques and improvements in spinal surgery and has worked extensively on new less invasive, muscle-sparing approaches to Anterior Scoliosis Correction (ASC).
Dr. Antonacci’s Minimally Invasive Approach
Even before his pioneering advancements in scoliosis, Dr. Antonacci was pioneering other minimally invasive techniques and made pioneering advancements in muscle-sparing spine surgery as early as 2001, for the modified Wiltse approach to far lateral lumbar interbody fusion, which drastically reduces blood loss and shortens hospital stays. He uses this approach for spondylolisthesis surgery.
Board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Antonacci is among a select few individuals worldwide with the expertise to perform a wide range of adult and pediatric spinal surgery, from traditional techniques to anterior scoliosis correction techniques for scoliosis, or percutaneous and mini-open approaches.
Dr. Antonacci has been granted hospital privileges at some of the finest medical centers in the northeast United States.
These locations include Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan, NY, Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center in Plainsboro, New Jersey and Saint Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. As a senior spine surgery consultant, Dr. Antonacci has also performed complex scoliosis and spinal deformity surgery on children at the prestigious Shriners Hospitals for Children® in Philadelphia in the past.
Currently, Dr. Antonacci’s ASC (Anterior Scoliosis Correction) procedures are performed approximately 20 minutes away from Newark Int’l Airport in NJ at Saint Peter’s University Hospital.
