Do you need spine surgery?

Joselito (Joe) – 46 – January, 2011…

My name is Joe. I’m a 46 year old male who was involved in a motor vehicle accident in which my car was rear ended at a high rate of speed as I was stopped in traffic n on the NJTPK on 07/18/07. I sustained an injury to my lower back which would cause an electrifying shooting pain up and down my extremities.

I was under the care of several physicians. My treatment consisted of physical therapy and PENS treatments none of which provided me with any relief. The options available to me were clear. They included epidural injections, surgery or continue to live with pain. I knew that the injections would only prolong the inevitable which was the need for surgery. In order to make that decision, I needed to do some research and find a physician with the highest skills in his or her field with a solid reputation and impeccable credentials. I finally made my decision to opt for surgery which was in December 2010.

I found Dr. M. Darryl Antonacci who has extensive surgical experience not only in spine surgeries in general but in complex reconstructive spine surgery including minimally invasive fusion techniques which is what I required. He and his physician assistant, Joel, were immensely helpful throughout the entire process, from pre-admission testing to the actual surgery and recovery thereafter. This was the first surgery I have undergone and having this team by my side eased a lot of the anxiety and stress. I would whole heartedly recommend, Dr. Antonacci and his staff, 7 days a week and twice on Sundays.

Finally, for those who have never been treated at the Hospital in Princeton I highly recommend this hospital. The highest level of service was provided to me by the entire staff. Special mention should be given to the impeccable team of nurses, the anesthesiologist and the entire O/R staff.
